Thread regarding Open Text Corp. layoffs

The big day..

Layoff is commencing July 2 for NA region (since July 1 is a holiday)

EU and others will continue the week following. Have been told it’s anywhere from 8-15% of WF.

Good luck to all

An ode to the troll: Growth is not returning and layoff is commencing soon. I hope you are on the layoff list.

@d7 Hang in there. The expectation is usually worse than the event.

I'm closing in on retirement, so trying to stick it out with OT, knowing full well that I have no control when my name comes up. High performer? Doesn't matter. The spreadsheet says what is says, bye.

Having said that, get out if you can. OT is a dead end gig. Only us olds without better options are better off staying.

Jul 3 is a holiday in the US, so if my number is up I hope I do get sacked on the 2nd so I can go into the long weekend without that hanging over my head. It’d almost be a relief at this point.

@bz Had to do that a cpl times in my career. First one was decades ago when I was an HR drone. Second was a decade ago, where my manager volunteered me to layoff co-workers, since I was in the area and "face-2-face is better."

The second one su-ked so bad I just told em they'd been sacked and took em all to the pub.

Knew right then I'd never be 'management material'.

@aj It's literally impossible for "sales" to be struggling and the "rest of the company" to be doing great. Do you know how business works?

I was laid off on July 1 in 2024 so there goes that idea.

You say HR for a change, quite a few HR have already gone, and someone, somehow has to do all the layoff admin still. Not fun.

@aj I have heard differently. It is across the board. Sales, Customer Support, Maintenance Renewals, Finance, IT, Engineering, Product Management, Product Marketing, Legal, Cloud Services, and even Human Resources for a change.

This is sales only

The rest of the company is hiring and has returned to growth
