Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I'm waiting ..

I've decided it's in my best financial interest and after looking at my entire career here that I should wait until they at least offer an interest in leaving. I'll have the 6 month severance and enough time to find another job of which skills are in high demand and with military background could go back into private contractor. Good luck everyone!

If you want to leave, they won’t offer you anything. They only want to surplus people that want to stay.

I believe it was Tom Petty that sang: “the Waiting is the hardest part…”

That's a good strategy because either way it's going to be hard getting a comparable job unless you are top tier engineer.

What a stupid strategy...

Good luck. Plenty of people been looking for a very long time. The white collar job market is one of the worst it’s ever been. Better start now and see what kind of offers you get, in all honesty, I think you’re going to be in for a rude awakening. I’m a veteran as well, coding skills, AI skills, operations, business management, degree from a good school, etc.. I think you’re going to be in for a shock. I know plenty of people that were unemployed over a year. If you’re over 50, you might want to examine early retirement. It is that bad.

I would just wait. Should be easy to find another job in this great economy.

Start interviewing and see how marketable you are. Doing nothing is not really groundbreaking enough to post.
