Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Lincoln Financial

Does anyone have experience with submitting a leave of absence? I’m getting the approval, pay, and job protection through the state but Centene still requires me to submit the leave request through Lincoln Financial, which includes signing an authorization form that allows the release of all my my medical records, credit reports, personnel records, tax records, and more. They then include a statement noting that my information is not subject to state and federal privacy laws.

Is this normal and legal?? Like I said, I’m not even using Centene’s short-term disability, I just need official leave on record so o can’t get fired for not giving proper notice.

In case anyone is reading this looking for the answer, LFG will tell you that two forms are required: one for FMLA that includes your medical certification and another ROI (that if you read carefully also notes information well beyond medical). You do not need to sign the ROI for FMLA. Refuse to sign the ROI form and your FMLA will still be processed. It is not legal to require employees to sign the ROI form.

I went of FMLA and only had my doctor complete 1 short form, nothing else and nothing like you are describing.

I went on medical leave last year and all they needed was 1 piece of paper from the hospital to validate the claim.

I just got back from leave and my state pays. The only thing Lincoln asked me for was a ROI for health information. The Lincoln paperwork is required for FMLA covering the LOA.

Why would having to get FMLA or short term disability require anyone to know about credit and personal finance information? Seems unjust.

I think that’s standard for any type of leave (long, short or fmla).

They can still find legal a way to let you go if needed though. Several ways around those protections. Just do what’s right for you.
