Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

It’s as simple as wide shoes…

I can’t even begin to tell you the amount of people that tell me that they don’t wear Nikes because they run to slim. And each time I just nod my head and say I agree. I do wonder how much more business we’d campfire by making a simple change like making our sizing more inclusive. My own family doesn’t even use my discount because they all have wide shoes and Nike doesn’t fit them😂

There’s low hanging fruit to be had all around, yet we overlook it to try to make these big statements that seemly haven’t landed in recent years.

Also with Asian sizes for apparel. Especially women’s leggings. Anyone under 5”5 can’t wear the full length bottoms. I always had to pick them up on my work trips overseas where the “AS” is available. We make them. Offer it on the website for the US consumers. We have short people too!

Can confirm on the friends about the wide shoes thing.. and I’ve been getting those comments for over 20 years.

Now are they enough of a market to really move the needle? I think so…. Since it would help all the defectors to Hoka, On, etc.

The other issue directly related to the wide shoe thing is that sewn in tongue of the shoe being too tight (effectively making it pointless to unlace your shoes anymore because it’s going to be too tight regardless. I either buy models without or I take scissors to the tongue sides. Yes ugh.

And most of extra wide and wide sizes even if available for a few models, are always priced higher then so called normal ones (which I also noticed, aren't really normal).

I have wide feet and have no issues, to put in perspective about 70% of people don’t know their proper shoe size

All my friends and family wont wear Nike because they aren't wide enough.

Nike knows this. This is a classic case of Nike thinking they know better than their consumer.

No, we'll tell you what YOU want.

Is out inventory system so brittle that adding a (W) option to the appropriate sizes would break it? You can do both

Nike says we keep the shoes narrow because elite athletes have narrow feet. My solution? Create an elite fit and a normal fit. That way we have a slightly wider shoe for the average person and narrow shoes for elite athletes
(IMO they do it for cost cutting)
