Internal job posting application denied without reason

For someone who is told to seek another job because their current post is going away soon.

What does it mean if when they apply to an internal job posting, it gets rejected almost immediately?
No reason given. Hiring manager does not respond.

They likely had an internal candidate in mind. If the manager can’t respond to an email asking why, I don’t think I would want to work for them anyway.

Happened to me. Applied to a post in my own department that I was more than qualified for. Rejected within 24 hours. Director avoided me when I wanted to discuss. Job ended up going to a displaced P800 person. I was later told that they already had a certain person in mind when the job was posted. Btw, that person was Friends and Family.

Moral of this story kids, is to not apply for another internal position. Just leave the company. It's better that way.

Candidate us already known, hence the rejection.

Either you've already been marked as a candidate for layoff and they don't want to lose their req in case there are future rounds of layoffs. Or they already have their candidate picked out and are just posting internally because they have to for legal reasons.

With the current internal environment, I would not assume internal postings are made in good faith.

I found out that internal job postings are sometimes handled like regular postings. I had to interview for a different department. It really depends on the manager. This is one of those unfortunate realities that it really comes down to who you know. My current department didn't require any of that because I knew the manager.

And these cats, even when they’re done with their games will leave the mouse to deal with the fallout of prolonged psychological stress without apology or explanation.

When you are told your job is going away and to apply elsewhere, they really mean outside Ford as you are tagged for separation. Those whom they value, places are found, others nope. Even if you do find someone who is interested in talking you, when the hiring manager contacts HR, they tell them you cannot be hired. Very rare you can escape this stacked against you dilemma. Ford is evil this way.

Well, on the bright side, they could have harassed and psychologically tortured you for a year or more before giving you the hint. Some of these orgs are sadistic like that.

This is Ford’s way of giving you a warning that you are getting laid off soon. You won’t be able to move anywhere else in Ford, so don’t waste your time. You need to apply outside of Ford ASAP. It’s easier to find another job while still employed.

Smart money says look elsewhere (outside of Ford). If you cannot (would be false) or are unwilling to do so then consider your career aspirations and what you want out of life. If you still come to the conclusion you have to stay at Ford - enjoy having your life plan determined for you...not by you.

First thing they do (usually) is call your present boss; before they talk to you often. You can imagine how that goes.

Email them and ask why, force them to justify their decision in writing. If they want to play hard ball, so can you. If you have a friend who’s a lawyer, it might be worth a call to ensure you’re treated fairly.
