Thread regarding Saudi Aramco layoffs

Notice period reduced? 60 days to 30 days

Hearing rumors that the notice period has been reduced from 60 days to 30 days. No official update from Aramco on this however. Can anyone confirm? Has there been an official communication? Does it apply to all expats/Grade codes?

If this reflects a change to contract, doesn't this need to be communicated?

It’s still 60 days if aramco instigates, 30 if you pull the plug. That’s what it says in the HR manual anyway.

Of course everything is a negotiation at Aramco so take that as nothing f more than a suggestion…

If you plan to quit or retire, start early, do preliminary work to expedite your clearance. Reduce your belongings to something manageable, fix/get rid unapproved work in the house, return rental furnitures/appliances, sell your car, get your computer to check your assets. I did this and got fully cleared in two weeks. Some took longer and 30 wouldn't have been enough.

Never mind 30 days, the whole process can be completed in 3 hours, if they want to.

But how is that meant to work when the entire off-boarding process takes more than thirty days of passing spinning workflows and silly sign-offs from lazy bureaucrat to bureaucrat.

It used to be 30 days, and now it is again. Has nothing to do with layoffs. geeze

@ac Personnel announced this change about a year ago. So yes, it was announced. You just didn’t read it.

@ac I read that the Labor law changed a year ago so that employees only had to give 30 days but employers still have to give 60. However that was a national law not a company policy per se.

So the understanding is that at aramco both employer/employee notice periods are 30 days? And this reflects a recent update?

It's 30 days. Of course no announcement or anything. They did it so when you get laid off they don't have to pay you 60 days only 30 days.
