Cigna wrecked Express Scripts. Used to be nice and simple when my health care coverage and my prescription coverage were separate. Now it's just one big cluster F. Service is terrible and all this waiting by the mail box for forced mail order prescriptions. I travel a lot and now I'm at the mercy for waiting for it to arrive in the mail, when ever that is. I hate having to schedule my departures because I'm waiting for the mailman. I can't skip medication or go for days without it. Something has to change! I miss the good old days when I could run to my local pharmacy and pick up my prescript at MY convenience. Now I have to WAIT and WAIT and hope the mailman arrives on time or whenever that is to get my meds. You can't reorder too early because the app will tell you it's too early to reorder!! There's been many times my supply runs out while I'm gone and the "maybe" arrival time is just after I'm gone. No meds for a week or two. They sit in the mailbox for anyone to take. In the heat or the cold. SOMETHING has to change!!!

Just select AUTO REFILL or whatever they call it now, and you will get sent the meds automatically based on your last shipment date and quantity. I have been doing it for years and never run out, I typically receive it 10-14 days before it runs out.
There have been a few times that I've paid out of pocket to pick up my monthly prescription from a local pharmacy via goodRX https://www.goodrx.com versus waiting a week for the mail from ESI for the 90 day supply.
ES has been a sh*tshow for a long time, even before Cigna.
I onboarded at Cigna right when that was underway and actually considered not accepting because of it. My previous health plan experience in customer service with them was AWFUL. Worst part was that our largest group used them but didn't understand that we were not the same company. Our MA product used them as PBM and actually blamed them for losing a star. The bad part was that Cigna decided to invest in ES at all. I know it boosted stock price. It's possible that it was not the beginning of the end, though. I wonder if it stayed off an inevitable demise
Have you tried just not going through express scripts mail delivery? I had same issues and just started using local pharmacy, over a year now, and though I’ve received mail telling me to use mailorder I never have went back and the cost at pharmacy always seems cheaper so if nothing else they’re not regulating their demands? I think there were state laws being proposed to stop rules like that and maybe varies state to state and I happen to live in one? If so, wasn’t publicized, may be worth looking into.
One more suggestion... give us the estimated dr-g price based on the full allowable, then show us what the copay/ded would be. And show the prices for different dates and coverage years! I should be able to see in fall 2025 what the med will cost me in '26 when my ded and OOP reset and prices change. This would be especially helpful for annual enrollment decisions or making healthcare plans. And advise if there's a similar dr-g that would save me money under that coverage! Even the call reps can't provide the level of detail I need to make informed decisions. Prices are at the point that I may even have to decide whether it's feasible to fill all my prescriptions or buy food. Terrible system all around!
Express Scripts also says that they contacted your hcp when you ran out of refills or need an auth. But every single time, my docs say they never received a single call, email, or letter about my meds. You have to micromanage everything yourself between the doctors, ES, and Cigna. So annoying.
Oh yeah and if your next fill date is around a holiday they will wait until AFTER the holiday to fill and ship your refills. They have no urgency for life-saving meds. They'll just give you the option for you to pay for faster shipping, which might shave a couple of days off.
My view is that express scripts wrecked Cigna.
Hate to tell you, but issues from ESI are thanks to how their core technology engineering team custom built everything and they are now showing their age. The smart people abandoned ship and left the rest of us to support the stpd creations of a select few.
