Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Relocating was such a mistake

I moved across the country for State Farm based on what they told me during interviews. Now that I'm here, the role and team setup are completely different from what I agreed to. My responsibilities aren't even close to what we discussed. You can't just undo a relocation like that but they act like it's no big deal. Nobody seems to give a damn.

I got to choose my job or a move across the country, had i rejected the offer, id be 100% WFH where i was, which was where i wanted to be. I trusted the company in this regard, and have continually regretted it, as they will QUICKLY change their mind on something with zero regard for how it impacts the employee.

I now live in an expensive town of strangers, forced to go into office, with the same opportunities as someone across the country in a cheap area working from the comfort of home. Theres so many little examples too of SF lying to employees to force them to do something they dont want to do. Someone up top gets off on this.

Never ever trust executives here. They were gaslighting us a year ago on how offshored workers will never replace american workers then a week ago they are telling us they will, in fact start replacing us. Told with a straight face, no recollection of prior talk saying otherwise, no apology we changed our mind, just 100% bold face lies until they have to tell us the truth.

I remember when i was in my LOC they were gas lighting us on that location being the next hub, or stats are fantastic, we do quality work, it was provable, our quality protects us, then bam, were closing the door move across country, again, no apology things changed, just 100% reversal out of no where.

Are other companies this bad? I just dont understand how this is even a thing its so easy to keep people happy, just follow the surveys. Its a wild place to work, friends and family are constantly with jaws dropped as i tell them what goes on here.

I was also hired and trained with a different description of how things work. Never believe leadership. They do not have your best interests at heart. I've been promised that things will get better for years. It never happens.

Agree with @a5+1kmzyfg9r. I wouldnt call it bait and switch though, its just straight gaslighting.

They gaslight people who keep getting reassigned that it will help them in some way, it wont. They gaslight being in office helps, it only helps keep worthless micromanagers busy. They say its to keep a culture, but they ki-led that culture a decade ago. They gaslight on quality while tracking and stressing quantity.

All gaslighting.

@dp Hmm everytime I listened to the dangling carrot, MY career never advanced. Maybe stop doing nepotism and secret deals like two managers agreeing to promote each other's spouses?

Its indeed who's "elbows you can rub" and why statefarm will never succeed.

Hmm, every time I moved, it was for a chance to advance MY career, not FOR State Farm. But then again, I have never been one to subscribe to the victim mentality.

State Farm is the king of bait and switch. Execs implement the reassign, torture and abuse method to get you to leave. They tried to force everyone to a hub because they think once they get you into this rat race, crazy expensive towns, you basically become a slave to the system. They want you to stay 2-3 years, and that includes leadership, then leave. What's in it for me...nothing.....and they designed it that way and trying to make it harder every day. These people are total sc-m bags! If you are fully remote they torture and abuse those folks too, when they can. Eventually they will get rid of them too.....just still running the numbers and coming up with an effective strategy to avoid paying severance. This company is total and complete trash.

Same with me, I relocated for statefarm in 2020 and they then started remote work. My responsibilities are also drastically more for my roke with no promotions. Basically if you have a bit of skill, they take advantage of you, so I started being a d-mbfuk because I don't get promotions anyways and someone who knows how to "rub elbows (suk dik, eat a**) get promoted. What's in it for me ?
It was such a waste of time and my life living in Bloomington.
