Hopefully you won’t get laid off tomorrow. Use this nervous energy to

  • update your resume
  • clear off / take photos of any info you may want from your work computer. DON’T email it to yourself as that is grounds for dismissal without severance
  • make a list of email addresses of colleagues for your goodbye note
  • start looking on job boards and applying for positions with other companies
  • review your personal finances and see where you can cut back to make sure you have money in an emergency fund

@OP depends on how you look at it., you don’t get laid off with a severance package and continue to work in a toxic sinking ship till they boot without a severance package or you leave. You get laid off with a severance and struggle in the current job market. It’s a lose lose either way.
