Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Anyone have info on contract talks

I’m concerned about where this extension is headed .Would like to know if there maybe a strike or not .Im holding off doing anything with my personal situation till we know. Its getting kinda old sleeping in the garage parking lot and showering in the bathrooms .Unfortunately cannot make a commitment till sure I won’t be out of a pay check.Unfortunately situation was made worse by divorce so would prefer not to have to strike but we haven’t been given any info

This company is going to nail you to the floor laughing all the way to the bank. The writing is on the wall. And stay away from my lovely eastern shore NY/NJ. You're ki-ling what was once a nice beach town! Besides the eastern shore wrote the book on good 'Ole boy cronyism.

FYI
Verizon has decided not to offer a IPP this first quarter due to they want to see the outcome of early bargaining
Once again this is a reminder that the company will always put their needs first before ours and they will be using this as a negotiating tactic and strategy

What does a posting about contract talks have to do with moving to a Godforsaken place?
I am sure there are better forums to discuss the pluses and minuses of moving to a place with 1k$ taxes that come with 1k$ neighbors.

@e3 what you don’t realize is in most states such as jersey most of the state is the complete opposite of what you think and don’t go along with all the thinking people think the problem is we have very populated city areas that control the whole vote and pretty much drain a lot of the resources.unfortunately a lot of us are just prisoners who can’t escape

@cw DE flooding only in areas close to Ocean (Bethany Beach). No state sales tax and low property taxes (less than $1K) make it an ideal place to retire if you want to stay close to friends and family in NY/NJ.

@e3 I would never live in the south, it is the " hills have eyes" in real time. Knuckle draggers ,and that's giving them to much credit!

@b9 so I was looking at Pa but I’m concerned it’s gonna get expensive soon too seems to have gone up but Delaware seemed to be promising but everyone is telling us that if we go there they have massive flooding but I’m thinking it’s more the ocean side I really need to talk to local people who live in areas maybe but Pa is still pretty good since it’s close to the northeast states but a bit less busy in areas .Just stinks that they make you have to make these decisions after spending a life in a place you can’t enjoy it as you age

@b0 man reading this makes me have hope.Been discussing it with the wife for a long time we realize only way we will ever retire will be a southern move.We been looking all over.We are just so worried about things like hurricanes, floods ,Ect just don’t know where to go but one thing is for sure the whole northeast is gotten to California level expenses.Look taxes that we thought 15 years ago were a lot at ,$7000 are now $15,000 and in most areas taxes that were high at $15,000 are about $26,000 for a bilevel !!! McMansions are like $40,000 a year taxes that’s just tip of it .Car insurance for basic on a family of older cars $8,000-$12,000 just can’t stay .

@AZ I grew up in the northeast but knew it was going to be too expensive for me to buy a house. Moved to the Southeast and loving it. Great cost of living, especially if you bought your home before the Covid bo-m.

I do miss the scenic snow and don't care for conservative politics down here, but overall very happy with the move.

Does anyone know what 100,000$ a year each working person couples making $ 200,000 a year in northeast will get you maybe a nice condo or small cape and a used car with a ton of loans .Sad the state of our country. How would anyone be able to take an Eisp buyout when they expect you to work till your 90 in this country. We need an entire system change in America

So I’m optimistic about our contract maybe the future of our small buisness but this is a serious post it represents the fact we actually do I have in fact I have seen first hand have people sleeping in the vehicles at locations and showering at 10$ a month gyms like planet fitness.Seems like while some of this is life choices such as bad divorces something is very wrong in not only Verizon but America no joke

After mass layoff, no one left to do strike duty, so they'll have to settle.

Its been quiet, as is expected. But at least no announcements about walking away. I hope Dan and the board realize the devastating affects it will have on the company if they dont work this out and soon!!!

@a4 I would disagree at this point unless they work without the contract renewed until they agree in Verizon's terms.
