Thread regarding Dow Chemical Co. layoffs

The irony....

At Dow, we believe in putting people first and we’re passionate about delivering integrity, respect and safety to our customers, our employees and the planet.

Our people are at the heart of our solutions. They reflect the communities we live in and the world where we do business. Their diversity is our strength. We’re a community of relentless problem solvers that offers the daily opportunity to contribute with your perspective, transform industries and shape the future. Our purpose is simple - to deliver a sustainable future for the world through science and collaboration. If you’re looking for a challenge and meaningful role, you’re in the right place

Nothing I have seen in my time at Dow backs this statement up. With the scheduling roles being outsourced, who in their right mind would apply for this.

Dow’s corporate culture rot is the slow, silent erosion of the company’s foundational values, leading to decreased morale, high turnover, and reduced productivity. It is characterized by creeping cynicism, poor communication, and a shift toward self-interest, rather than a sudden, dramatic crisis. Common signs include silent voices, missed deadlines, and a lack of accountability.

Key Warning Signs of Culture Rot that are being ignored by leadership:

Declining Engagement: A rise in "quiet quitting" increased gossip, and a lack of enthusiasm.

Toxic Communication: Silos form, trust breaks down, and leadership fails to address issues.

Missed Values: Core values become meaningless posters rather than practiced behaviors.

Talent Drain: High-performing employees leave, often driven by a toxic environment that is 10.4 times more powerful than compensation in predicting turnover.

Lack of Recognition: Individual achievements are overlooked, and management fails to acknowledge good work.

Causes and Indicators
Culture rot often stems from a "drift" away from the original mission, where leadership fails to model healthy behaviors.
