What about the new emails retention policy? Doesn't make any sense... Something traumatic is happening if they want to erase everything

Cost cutting, saving storage space. And legal, as less data if there was ever a lawsuit
If you do not want to lose email from your main mailbox, just follow the instructions they sent and it won’t be deleted. The link to the doc was in the email announcement.
Probably just to save a few bucks since most likely MS is storing those conversations in their servers and that costs $$.
This is common policy at most large companies. AIG is late to the party, as always
