Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Can we catch a break?

Is it too much to ask for a few weeks without layoff rumors? As soon as one round ends, the next one starts getting whispered about. I'm so tired of never being able to let my guard down.

Your break is when you get let go. Then you wish it happened sooner.

If you removed 6K employees from the business, you would ‘save’ $600M (fully loaded cost of $100K per person)

@ec Logic? When did that apply to this company? I didn't say it was logical. I merely described how I expect this to play out.

@ed There is a saying you get what you pay for.. but when your ship is sinking and close to Chapter 11 does it matter. The real question is not lay offs that should be the main discussion but what and is it even possible to plug the holes in the ship or is necessary to let it sink and take all the people let in life boats and board a rescue boat?

@ee Maybe this explains why count rumors say Xerox is taking more of a hit so far.

@ed Xerox underpaid, LEX more underpaid.

@ec It would be good to know whom has been historically more over paid.. Legacy Lexmark or Xerox employees?

@eb So your logic is rotate between legacy spreadsheet of employees to decide whom to let go? Interesting logic?

@at If this is mostly happening quarterly, the Lexmark folks will feel it most in August, not May. There are still plenty of Xerox folks to go in May.

@dh Has the last 20 years seen a stock price that is below $2.00 and debt payments that maybe in question by investors? The times were in just seem a bit more dire.

@dh Yes, Xerox has been laying off for 20 years. The Executive don't have the guts and/or knowledge to figure out which divisions, organizations or groups are no longer part of the plan going forward. None of the SLT wants to lose their kingdoms or jobs so they spread the cuts evenly across the company. This causes more problems than it fixes. Unless they want to demoralize employees so they will quit on their own.

Xerox has been laying people off every year for at least 20 years. Don’t see that changing. It becomes routine after a while and you get used to it… if you survive the layoffs of course.

@OP if you are fed up with it there is nothing stopping you looking for a new job and being rid of the worry

The only thing consistent with Xerox are layoffs, no raises and low morale. If you are looking to let your guard down, you’re in the wrong place.

@at Why and what happens in May?

Lexmark employees will feel the brunt in May. That will be the first time Xerox sends a message who owns the acquisition.

Let your guard down???? This is not going to end until it ends permanently. We are still 5-6000 heads overstaffed which needs to be addressed immediately. And probably another 2-3000 after that. All you have to do is watch revenue. We have a permanent decline. If you need paycheck, find a job tomorrow. The financials are screaming at you.

Sorry, not being cold or inconsiderate, but if you want to let your guard down and relax, go find another ring. Eventually even your guard up cannot help you block the blows that will continue to come, one after another(XRX). Cr-ppy situation - no one in all our corner. Yes LXK maybe given a little more coaching, maybe appear a little stronger. Nah, Nah - maybe last one extra round… those simple A3 boxes and historical simple sales approach is not enough.

Not until Feb 2027 at the earliest.. but with the current way things are going that will not be enough even. Our worries will change from will some of us have a job to will all of us have a job staring in Q1 2027 or sooner.

Your best course of action is if your in the US is to find a government position if you want to let your guard down.
