Thread regarding Open Text Corp. layoffs

I still have a job, why?

Why? Seems strange, is Stefan still thinking about Content Server? Why Directory Services and not just OpenLDAP?

Im gonna add to this a bit since I cant edit.

I fully imagine there's someone over in licensing that has to routinely tell PS someone on their end f*cked up.

'Hey the SUID you gave is actually internal. We'll get their intended key but swap them fully so you dont get the 'ID mismatch' error. If they want features only in the internal they have to buy em.'

To then have PS ignore when licensing is proactive and ping them in teams going 'the key is wrong' for the error THEY LITERALLY WARNED YOU ABOUT IN ADVANCE. That is WORTH crashing out over. If they tell you on the case how and why for you - yet you still go to them, resign brother.

Forgive a potential crashout but I may be in one of the depts with extra content.

OTDS has a popular (and sticky) cloud offering. That's mostly done through ECM bundles including CS but several other products have standalone options. Some also have OTDS integration as an upgrade threshold. For now it even hits the Aviator/AI box with an AI tie-in. I'd say most products with OTDS integration are some of the safer ones for now.

Here's the point where the crashout begins though - it's also good for Professional Services revenue. Normally that's great but - they tend to break a very important rule along the way. A lot of them have been caught using an internal OT key to onboard. Like a loooooooooot of you (PS). You guys are skipping the licensing mfs and costing OT money in the longterm along the way. Fun fact for any customers here if you have a private cloud with us see if you can check the license in OTDS. If none of the ID lines have your name - you may have a better key than what you're paying for. Internal OT SUIDs tend to have the works. Because they're ours. You have won a very easy lottery as long as you don't ever need to bring attention to the f*ck up. From that point on until you upgrade you're getting a good deal. That no one else agreed to. They aren't doing anything though. Since PS skips licensing, not their fault until they have to get proper keys. Which they do. Complaince aint doing anything because now they're likely going to be terrified of losing any revenue in correction. Sales can take complaints on lost commissions but PS doesn't track who gave them the internal key for on boarding.

So that's half a thesis. But maybe you can see where some of the issues are. The product seems ideal but as usual OT on the inside has
Just
Absolutely fu*cked it up along the way. People are worried about renewal uplift cost when some of them are getting Walmart level bargains. As long as you don't put yourself in a spot of needing anything new. The Licensing people from there would (hopefully) be doing their jobs and being the double check. Don't force that and you're probably sitting pretty.
