Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Is everyone OK?

Anyone else's manager losing their mind and creating insane and unclear and unreasonable expectations they cant even explain? Its like there is absolute no accountability for these middle managers running amuck reeking havok and creating chaos.

Managers are targeting people by making unclear and inconsistent guidance that only applies to 1 or 2 people and not an entire team. Pay close attention. It may be you

My manager was nice and I was happy to work for her until recently. She has had a sudden shift and is cold and giving unreasonable demands that make no sense. I think she knows they dont make any sense but refuses to acknowledge it. Im being set up to fail and cant help but wonder if its all just a set up. Its very suspicious

My manager has not been themself for months. No transparency is being provided around our goals and there is so much uncertainty as to if we’ll have jobs in an month since another team in our group seems to be taking on a chunk of our responsibilities and we’re being asked to train them, which is awkward beyond belief. I don’t understand how this is being allowed to happen and our manager doesn’t seem to have much fight to protect our team anymore. It’s all unsettling, and I don’t know how to operate like this much longer. Yeah it’s a paycheck, but it’s also depressing and demoralizing. Our team calls are crickets because no one has any idea what’s going on. I hate it here.

Omg I’m so glad I’m not the only one! This “speed to market” cuts out time for strategy and teams are drowning in work and are told “just get it done” instead of caring about quality or making sure it even aligns to meet a goal. Managers make unrealistic demands and don’t care if it’s physically impossible to meet that timeline. Any questions to help complete anything is seen as being d-mb or pushing back. No expectations are set until you find out you didn’t meet them. Because of this there’s so much unnecessary overwork and a lack of communication across the whole company. Any suggestions to improve it go in one ear and out the other.

This bank is so top heavy it’s a crazy waste of money. There are too many useless layers of management someone needs to investigate and adjust.

Why make anything efficient? We cant justify 6 managers at grades 16 and higher for a team of less than 20. These managers are pretending they are relevant by overcomplicating the work to justify half of the useless bodies they employed to keep their title. Its so gross!

Mine runs around all day like a chicken with her head cut off. No clarity or direction whatsoever but we are expected to get it done.

Good to hear that it is not just my manager who has gone mental. Asks were always comical but now they are just annoying. Get a grip managers!

I’m seeing a lot of shifting expectations with little to no clear direction. Responsibilities keep expanding under the label of “alignment,” but there’s no explanation of priorities, tradeoffs, or ownership. That lack of clarity creates chaos, not accountability. Ask how all this will be added to your performance review and get met with gaslighting and anger. Questions for clarity are no longer welcomed and viewed as insubordinate.

Leadership should reduce ambiguity, not multiply it. Alignment requires clarity, not just authority. Instead we are met with “I wear big important boots- just do it!”
