Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

The job market looks similar to 2009

There are hardly any jobs in the job market. Good luck finding a remote role in this economy when you’re competing with thousands of h1b's and h4 ead's.

@OP I got a job (hybrid 3 days WFH, 2 days in office) in 3 months equivalent to my previous position at WF. Way better environment. Only 1 Indian instead of 60% indians at WF.

The job market doesn't look anything like 2009...

Non-farm jobs saw about 600k GROWTH in 2025
Non-farm jobs saw nearly 5 MILLION LOSSES IN 2009

Where do you people come up with this stuff? Crawl out of your self pity

Those with jobs may be lucky to get a pay check but it is still very stressful.I have gone through 2 Layoffs. They will keep you anxious with these performance ratings and threats of layoffs. In my opinion we should all have an escape plan. Maybe a dollar figure you can hit and then say f you to the system. That way you at least have hope that you will be free one day. Best of luck to you all.

Remote is dying, thanks to everyone who abused the system during the pandemic and offshored labor. My husband has worked in tech for 20 years and have never seen a job market even close to this bad- you are competing against thousands of applicants (including a plethora of H1B) for every opening. This is WAY worse than 2009.

its true. the job market is seriously bad atm, and you ARE up against all the foreigners
who lie on their resumes with their "bachelor degrees" etc. and anyone who says differently is fooling themselves. there are hundreds of people applying for the same job - i know from personal experience, talking with recruiters and my now-current manager trying to hire.
if you have even 1 flaw on your resume that the resume scanners catch, you dont even make it past the door.
i know WF is dire, but if you have a job right now be thankful. i know many, many people who have been looking for a year or more for ANY role - remote or on-site.

Remote jobs aren't going away, even through a serious downturn. The infrastructure to enable remote work is fully established now, and too many companies have realized competitive advantages in hiring for remote jobs to ever fully die. Decaying companies like Wells might continue to cling to archaic practices, but its some serious fear mongering to suggest remote work is dead.

Quit blaming others for your situation. And I don't believe you quite understand how H1b works... Those who HAD been H1b on a prior position are not sitting in some apartment in Omaha scanning random job openings to post on. That is now how it works...
