I appreciate the heads up, but a 2 year timeline is crazy.
I appreciate the transparency from Mike. Think of this e-mail as a heads up. If you anticipate being a layoff target due your team, role, or your salary, then you need to start updating the resume and interviewing. I'm sure that was their intention with this e-mail, give you ample time to start thinking about plans.
If not, you roll the dice and live in uncertainty for the next 24 months.
