Down in the south, this position has been going on for a while now. Basically, they do away with the RMS positions that each district has. The RTM is in full control of their assigned territory. The hirings, firings, write ups, sales, FTOWs, part time help... everything. The pay is a little better because now you will have all the extra responsibilities that belonged to a middle manager passed on to you. Down here there are still mostly sales reps in the urban areas where stores are more concentrated but RTM positions are mainly for rural areas where stores are about a half hour or more away from each other.. hope this gives you a little insight from those of us already experiencing it.

@dr They posted the RTM jobs for us to apply for yesterday and basically every route we had on our team was still there except for maybe one. Pretty much exact same towns for each route.

My DM did not know. He had all our plans and scheduled stores we were to hit for all us reps, written up for this year. You would not do all that just to pretend you didn’t know what was coming.

The retail territory manager pays a lot more money, do you think they’re going to have 1 position for that of every rep? That every rep will just move into that position? How would that save them money? No….. A lot of reps will be out of a job no matter what.

@cb My RDR was on the call I was on and honestly, he looked a bit shocked.

According to the call I was on, it affects all salaried people in sales. The RMS's on the current territory I work on did not know and were shocked like everyone else. They are restructuring again. Everyone has to apply for the new positions or take the severance package. For me, it's time. I take the severance package.

Are reps actually being laid off or is this just reference to having more RMS sized territories with FTOWs?
