Oil futures are pointing to lower prices. COP will be struggling financially given the downward pricing direction. How do you think senior leadership will lead us through these challenging times?

Luv cheap gas. Wooo!!
Plus: low gas prices so more of us will be able to get out and enjoy life in 2026
Minus: low gas prices so more of us will have plenty of time to get out and enjoy life in 2026
COP bet on the long game with $40/bbl low COS for "decades." That's a shield not a spear that it can wield in the market. Wall St. doesn't buy that any more - dividends will be much less attractive, buybacks will be less, and more importantly that free cash flow will suffer. COP is the best house in a bad neighborhood and nobody is buying. Compared to the overall market there are other better sectors to invest in. It's a vicious cycle, OPEC isn't helping, and I would't be surprised if more layoffs happen in 2026.
@ca too many people would be spending 2-3 hours at the gym/shower/lunch every day just to make their report card seem better.
What do 9/80s have to do with anything? You could put strict controls in place to make sure that people are actually working their 9 hours a day, that may go somewhere. But if someone isn't going to work their 9 hours a day, what makes you think they will work their 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. It would be just as easy to 'cheat' that schedule.
You can try to punish the folks that properly adhere to a 9 hour workday, but all you will do is alienate them but punishing bad behavior that they weren't participating in.
Give all employees a weekly report card of hours worked and that would change some behaviors.
No more 9/80s
@OP I would think senior leadership would take the lead personally - pay cuts, stock incentive cuts, fringe benefit cuts. They would need to make it public to show they are "on the bus" w/ the EEs". They would then look for the employees to take some cuts. If not.....EEs will sink the ship.
Good news! I will be able to fill my F150 under $100. Always look on the brightside
