Thread regarding Medtronic Inc. layoffs

Turnover is slowing

I know it's not because people suddenly like it here and have decided to stop looking, but it says a lot about the state of the job market. I won't lie, it makes me nervous.

In my organization the short-term reason that turnover has slowed is that those individuals that are close to retirement are waiting to see if there's a VERP. If there is, there will be many that take it and leave.

The market is not bad if you have a network and skills.

The job market is cr-p right now. The highest unemployment rate since 2008. It also doesn’t help that many companies like Medtronic are outsourcing jobs to India.
