Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Exhausted and demoralized

My team has been shrinking for two years straight, and none of the key roles were ever backfilled. At this point, I can’t even remember the last time I left at the official end of the day. The only thing keeping us going is that my teammates are solid. We’ve been carrying the load together, since our manager isn’t exactly helping.

We’ve pushed ourselves because the job market is rough and we’re all trying to hold on to what we have. But we’re getting to a point where the workload just isn’t realistic anymore, and the exhaustion is hitting hard. It makes you wonder what the point is. Fighting so hard for a paycheck every day, when the whole thing could be sent offshore at any moment.

Not sure which line of business any of you ate in but this resonates with me. On the other hand, I believe in the strategy shift of the company from the perspective of an equity holder and can understand Charlie’s vision and even that of my line of business however, for my direct responsibilities, I see a bleak future.

I’d love to know if there is anyone who is truly happy to work here. Besides the OC. I’ve been around a long time and I’m used to hard work, goals, corporate BS, but ever since CS came, it’s all that plus anxiety, depression and anger. That’s by design and it will backfire in the long run. You know, after Charlie makes the numbers look good for him and he retires an even wealthier person while the dumpster fire he leaves behind will be the next CEO’s problem to fix. Whomever that is will have the lofty job of reengagjng the team, getting us to believe we are working towards something meaningful that we can get inspired by. After this long of mind games, power plays and treating employees like cells in an excel workbook, this won’t be easy! I hope I finally find a good exit soon. It’s a full time job just trying to stay somewhat motivated.

They never will communicate anything of substance to us, because in their eyes we're zombie employees. Not worth wasting their breath, and worse, some of us will wind up at other banks and they'd rather not help the competition. Give it time, we'll all be gone. I'm one of the lucky ones, I'm close enough to retirement so NYC destroying the company really isn't a problem for me. All I want is my severance on the way out the door. I'll get the lights.

It just dawned on me that the mentality and leadership is the New York mentality. It’s not the good old boys of Norwest or San Francisco.

They don’t care, any person with a soul would be embarrassed by this board. The executives love this turmoil and severe anxiety. We are at their mercy. To know this is how your company feels and not care, infact make it harder to anticipate the next blow shows they are doing it on purpose. Like pulling puppet strings.

I hear you. I feel like all of us are miserable and are just waiting to be laid off. Never seen morale this low and there is zero communication from leadership.
