Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

It did NOT matter - so for those who stay - learn from us/this

  • it did not matter to them: - so many long hours - so many weekends lost for the family, because of deadlines or projects. So musmch stress, trying to give them my best, and in a day - it NO longer mattered. That is the most learning lesson: devotion to a job - it does not matter - we need to protect our priorities over all. In my case, 27.5 years here - and it did not matter to them. So for those who stay, control your wfforts and your hours, because to them, it wont matter.

Verizon's leadership is a joke. They don't care; those that work exceptionally well and hard do not get rewarded when it comes to layoffs. I've been reading these same posts about layoffs for many many years and it all rings true, the same bs, the same preference for poor performing friends, the same new marketing tactics and corp reorgs to cover for cr-p leadership, etc. etc. Get out while you can knowing that it only gets worse - much worse - after one of the many many layoff periods.

@ae We will be just fine like all the many many layoff in the past. Only 40 hours in the work week

Your corporate job (Specially like Verizon kind of job) is half skill, half popularity contest. You may be working your butt off at Verizon, but you still need to find time to network and get smarter on the side.

The kicker? Even if you nail everything, the axe can still drop if the timing or politics are off!"

@a3 Dan blamed Hans for the failure. But Dan was the lead board member for the part 7 years. He let this happen. Where is the accountability? The entire leadership team needs to go.

@OP, I have learned already over the past 17 years, watching my colleagues let go, that your performance does not matter. At the end of the day, we are just slaves to the shareholders. I do not go above and beyond in terms of my work. What we need to do is to squeeze the best out of the system in this corporate world, trying to get as much money as we can. Because, hey, isn't it what executives are doing? Pocketing millions of dollars as a bonus by sacking employees and making our lives miserable.

@af either you never worked here or you are a glorified PM who has managed to keep your job because of DEI

@a3 yall need to grow up. These things happens a lot. Be grateful for a company that PROVIDED for your household, your needs and wants. Lessons learned. Be your own business owner and create the change that you want.

Those that remain will be overworked and overwhelmed with an unmanageable workload and stressed outta their minds tasked with cleaning up the mess. The company will come in with damage control and PR propaganda to paint a (BS) rosy picture— but rest assured that more Layoffs are coming. If they have proven anything it’s that they cannot be Trusted, take care of yourselves and your own and to HELLLL with the company. The Executives get a golden parachute and the rest of us get a kick in the ÂSSS ..

Verizon’s leadership failed us. They made many poor decisions, and now we are paying the price. They don’t want to pay us our salaries to boost shareholder value and more $$$$ for Dan. Our colleagues who are still at the company will be very stressed with too much work now that we are gone.
