@en we were told same thing recently in one of our very few morning rallies - credit card more important than ANYTHING else.
@hj. At least there is one other sane person that works for Belk. People don't even understand the meaning of woke anymore. It has become a way to trash people that have different views.
@bt. Almost everything.
@mq. You are out of your mind. Watching a little too much national news. Duh
@mp---hey don!
Right you are @hj. Hence the personal digs post. Belk is so not woke.
Several men in the c suite office and all of visual merchandising like to play with their rusty trombone.
The company currently running Belk will extract as much cash out of belk as they can, run it into the ground, and then file bankruptcy similar to Stein Mart and party city stores. That’s what’s going to happen. Sycamore does not own belk anymore they sold it to KKR and Hein Park. Look what’s happening to Torrid which is being run by Belk’s old gal Lisa Harper and Hein Park, they are closing a bunch of stores, same thing will happen at Belk.
My view of what we need; customer service is #1–have to give customers reason to come back with some many other options—have associates willing and on the floor to help, #2 —selling— we are a store after all, but the right products on fixtures that are not falling apart. Have key products—we do not stock men’s wallets outside of Christmas season—why? #3 Merchandising—imagine if we could be creative, have items where it made sense for a stores particular customer base—decorate well with items we sell. #4 Save the Sell, but please improve that interface—captures what we can’t always have in stock— program is very clunky and oh so slow. #5 Store refresh— carpets at multiple locations look horrid— put some money into store appearance .
I understand credit is good for the company—spiffs, increased sells, and repeat customers but that should be after the basics are nailed down.
Agree except "woke" leadership lmao
Its run by a bunch of old, cis white men.
Least diverse company ever, probably helps contribute to their horrendous performance.
@e5. I know we were told sales do not matter. Only credit does. Belk is getting $10,000 per credit application
When the store budget for a holiday dinner for associates is $10 a person, that says it all.
It’s hilarious how belk is being called out on all their shady business tactics on this page, and these posts are spot on too, they hit the nail on the head so to speak, very, very accurate, on point postings on here, these people know exactly what is going on.
I once was proud to have had over 10K in sales in one shift. I was then told that I only had two credit applications that day and that’s the only number that matters…
Plus the buildings we are in are falling apart with minimal maintenance
I would add corporate merchandising/ planning also understaffed
@be---everything on that list is 100% true.
What makes you think this is a personal dig? Clearly, they’re stating the facts. This company has been on a downward trajectory ever since the sale! I remember when the Belk Brothers took no pay for a year and made small cuts without anyone losing their job. So let’s not throw around accusations of personal attacks. It seems you might be a bit new here and unaware of how Belk used to operate.
There’s 10 more reasons it’s in trouble. You should do a top 20 list
You are going to get your personal digs in one way or another right. Pitiful.
