The company currently running Belk will extract as much cash out of belk as they can, run it into the ground, and then file bankruptcy similar to Stein Mart and party city stores. That’s what’s going to happen. Sycamore does not own belk anymore they sold it to KKR and Hein Park. Look what’s happening to Torrid which is being run by Belk’s old gal Lisa Harper and Hein Park, they are closing a bunch of stores, same thing will happen at Belk.

My view of what we need; customer service is #1–have to give customers reason to come back with some many other options—have associates willing and on the floor to help, #2 —selling— we are a store after all, but the right products on fixtures that are not falling apart. Have key products—we do not stock men’s wallets outside of Christmas season—why? #3 Merchandising—imagine if we could be creative, have items where it made sense for a stores particular customer base—decorate well with items we sell. #4 Save the Sell, but please improve that interface—captures what we can’t always have in stock— program is very clunky and oh so slow. #5 Store refresh— carpets at multiple locations look horrid— put some money into store appearance .
I understand credit is good for the company—spiffs, increased sells, and repeat customers but that should be after the basics are nailed down.

What makes you think this is a personal dig? Clearly, they’re stating the facts. This company has been on a downward trajectory ever since the sale! I remember when the Belk Brothers took no pay for a year and made small cuts without anyone losing their job. So let’s not throw around accusations of personal attacks. It seems you might be a bit new here and unaware of how Belk used to operate.
