But I’d been trying to find something else for months, and nothing ever came through. Now I’m laid off, and the panic is setting in. Wishing everyone who lost their job yesterday the best of luck, I think we’re all going to need it.

Its really really difficult to get a job. If you get one its the level of miraculous as when God parted the Red Sea. I got laid off from TSYS after 17 yrs of service due to mckinsey and global payments taking over the business. A year later I am at fiserv and had to relocate to alpharetta ga. Because columbus ga has no comparable opportunities. Columbus has not changed or progressed in 20 yrs. It remains the same. If you are with fidelity and they are wanting to move you to columbus ga be aware. If you get laid off in columbus you will have to relocate to Atlanta or some other city or state for a job. Ain't nothing in columbus.
I made a big mistake getting a job here. should have stayed where I was, less money, but at least no daily worries about next layoff wave. I truly wish best of luck to all those affected
