For the H1B, MTG already introduced a bill to abolish it. Unfortunately, Trump wants the H1B to satisfy his tech donors and oligarchs.

They don’t have to use H1B. Just hire those people and don’t make them relocate to the US. The internet has made everyone just an instant message away.

@ad Suspect H1B and OPT are paid a fraction of what Americans earn (with most $$ going to the staffing agencies and not the contractors). For managers to keep their jobs and bonus, budget + staff cuts are likely their only choice given volume of work. Of course H1B and OPT agencies know + abuse this...guarantee there are kickbacks too.
@dr - F-kin right... I helped hire a few of these guys before getting let go and their skills were not 'special'.
I could live with OPT depending on the numbers. With all the layoffs across the tech world and many reporting that it takes many months to find a job I'd say there is zero need for H1Bs at this point - at least in IT. The whole point was to augment demand in fields with "special" skills.

OPT is so abused- it buys F1 students time in the US. Most go on the earn another degree so they can do OPT again. So many students I knew 10 years ago are STILL in the US. They never had any intention of leaving
