Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Overworked and still blamed...

Anyone else feel like we’re stuck in a company where the people doing the actual work keep getting cut, while the folks who create the bottlenecks sail through untouched??? every layoff just leaves fewer hands, more red tape, and a fresh round of do more with less from leaders who havent touched real work in years... the front line teams get blamed, the same broken processes remain, and nothing changes except the workload dumped on whoever is left...at some point you have to ask how many rounds of cuts it takes before leadership admits the problem isnt the workforce, it’s the way the place is being run???

Doesn’t matter if you’re in STS, CRM, CSS, RPS, etc the whole system is built to benefit the top and treat everyone else as disposable.

Leadership knows exactly how toxic it’s gotten but they just don’t care. As long as the stock price stays high and they keep getting richer, nothing else matters to them

This is accurate for STS. 2026 has even more financial budget pressure, and all the MD levels can think of is reducing staff - either offshore or onshore.
They even branded it as STS Next.
The Board needs to start digging into STS asap, esp. when you staff a central STS business team that has more employees in it than some business units…. Want to cut expense? Start digging into what the SBM team does. Any app support they do shouldn’t even be in that dept, it’s there seemingly as some lifeline. All the others in oci dough should be eliminated before you start cutting staff that actually support the business. STS leadership across the MD level should all leave for wasting our firms money and cutting areas that impact business delivery. We don’t need some 200+ employees just creating spreadsheets and budget reduction capacity exercises that just waste time. Nothing will change until EC or board start changing at the top. Then, Next will succeed.

@aa maybe you quit whining and focused on doing your job and your performance actually improved leading to higher bonus and stock.

@OP I recently left a company that was everything you described and came to Schwab and now have to deal with the same stuff on a different day.

It’s depressing but is corporate America at its finest…rather worst.

Years ago I quiet quit. No more after hours. No volunteering. No speaking up. I've gotten better reviews with more bonus and stock since. Weird system.
