Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

A friend's kid just got a job here

She called me excitedly to share the news. I really didn’t have the heart to tell her how bad of an idea I thought it was, or how I don’t think he’ll last more than a few months in this toxic atmosphere. He’s too nice of a guy, and you need to have a much thicker skin and fewer scruples to survive here. I almost feel like an a--hole for not warning her, but what good would it do?

People join companies and leave managers. Who knows, he might get lucky.

@OP
Did she specifcally ask you your opinion on working here? Did she ask you for any tips? No?
Then keep your mouth shut.
Nobody likes people who spew unsolicited opinions.

As bad as this place is to work, A young person needs to take advantage of all the opportunities they can get to gain experience. Most of the entry level paying jobs in this company and others have been shipped overseas. So consider him lucky to get in get some experience and use it to get a better role somewhere else.

Well a lot of people cant find jobs at all so getting one with a huge profitable organization is worthy of celebration, at least in the short term. The losers on here like to whine about having to come to work but they wouldn't last very long anywhere else which is why they never leave. Just whine and post, whine and post.

If you're so in love with WF, why are you on this site? Those two things don't compute...

Maybe he has more than 1 offer and take the other one. Or as long as he knows to continue networking, working on building his resume to find somewhere better?

Just because you don’t think they would have a great experience doesn’t mean they won’t. Not all departments function the same. And, even if this a short-lived opportunity so they can get some experience under their belt, I call that a win.

Maybe he's got bigger ba--s than you.

So, this kid should pass up a great opportunity for a first job because you are sour? Good thing you didn't provide your feedback.
