Bonuses and pay increases don’t guarantee job security

I was laid off a few months after getting both from my last job. I was convinced I was safe, and I was not. I just thought people should know this, because I’m guessing this is true everywhere.

Layoff logic is purely the number game for management, IMHO. Once promoted, your salary was higher than before, yet when layoff was the decision, all was about the number.

In fact, I have seen the opposite, when someone I knew was promoted .. kicked upstairs, and was gone shortly after.

Same thing happened to me. "logic" ?? would dictate, no raise, then cut them, i would think. well i am learning lots through this site. You also find out which co-workers were
really your friends. Friends contact you.

If NOT, then definitely needed.

Nobody is safe, especially when performance ratings aren't a layoff criteria.

Build an emergency fund and invest in yourself.
