Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

I survived for now, but there is no logic here.

My peer who has been with the enterprise almost as long as me got the tap today. They were a hard worker (always seeking more work in an effort to avoid this), very knowledgeable, very ethical.
This is a loss for the firm, and there was no logic to it. Just a body to fulfill a cut requirement number.
So if you think you are safe because you are a smart hard worker or if you spend your time on here telling other folks they are su-kers for not somehow avoiding getting cut, I have some bad news for you.

So the lesson is that you should not be a workaholic because it’s not going to get you anywhere . Is that right?

Are you capable of looking at it fully objectively? I have met plenty here for whom it was declared it "would be a loss for the firm if they were let go". Yet many of those were absolutely miserable to interact with.

Being good/the best/niche at anything does not automatically equal being a good employee/coworker. An A Team level worker with a shyte attitude does not mean they are as valuable as one thinks.

Funny how it's all about targeting people that "make a lot of money" but they never ever think of getting rid of some useless overpaid executives. 😐 We could probably save $100M by unloading that Shart / JPM rejects posse.

You gotta su-k to survive. No pun intended.

They go after the most expensive people - the experience, knowledge, work ethic and the quality of the work does not matter. These decisions are usually made by people who have no idea what you do and have no way to quantify your contribution to the firm.

I was kept when two older-than-me workaholics were laid off. I literally do about 20-60 minutes of work a day, then spend the rest of the time trying to avoid going away enough to raise suspicion.

Did they make more money than you l, that seems to be the tiebreaker. They really don't care about LOS or experience. They want heads and they want high salaries.

The only sure way is if you're a team of one or two with very specialized experience and can't be replicated India

I laugh that my having twice gone to my manager for more and harder worker in my final year is likely part of the reason it was my final year. LOL
