Thread regarding Hitachi Vantara layoffs

Say goodbye to HV field techs

HV just fired 60%+ of it's Customer Support Engineers. Left 1 CSE to cover 1-2 States. If Japan doesn't take over, HV will cease to exist in a few years.

Great news folks, I'm in the townhall now and ALL of the numbers are up Up UP. And don't worry, we're gonna pivot on AI and AI is gonna save us all (according to this awesome powerpoint they have up).

On JN's field service town hall today a ce say you're an a--hole right in the middle of his introduction. That deserves a Holy $h.t... couldn't believe it. Haven't heard what they did to him in assume they know because of the recording.

Was not let go, but the whole west coast is down to ~13 CE's and some change. Some locations have no coverage at all and most only have 1 person covering. ISP integration on 11/5 has been hush hush with no introductions. Seems like this company really doesn't want to put any effort into the evolving CE title and are leaving us for the scraps to scavenge. Time will tell with "phase 2" of ISP in March of 2026.

@1ks Honestly, the Japan leadership team just isn’t equipped to take things to the next level. Most of them don’t have the background or industry experience needed to build something modern or competitive — they mainly know how to operate within Hitachi’s internal system. The result is a lot of internal overlap and business units competing for the same space, and the leaders in those groups either don’t see it or don’t have the drive to change it.

Wasn't laid off but looking forward to quitting. Most mismanaged and poor performing IT I've ever seen. They keep growing their India team and wonder why everything is falling apart. Not sure what is wrong with Japan. Either step in completely or sell the company for scraps.

@19g It's painful listening to how tone deaf and out of touch marketing is in meetings. It's almost as if they go out of their way to not know their jobs.

@15w generally the marketing department is viewed by those outside of HQ as completely incompetent. Heavy hitters of the losers is no loss.

@jw the ones they’ve fired were big time heavy hitters. Company must be really suffering to let them go as well as the other hitters too.

@h7 The firing of the entire ROC team was so ruthless and irresponsible I never forgot that event. I was CSE 2010 to 2024 and was thankful I did not take the option to join the ROC.

@h7 our HPE gear is getting support from Unisys. And by Unisys I mean a bunch of bitter boomers that didn't prep for retirement and resent the he-l out of everything. I get it, but leave your baggage at the door, bro.

Quite a few heavy hitters in Marketing were let go. These were people that knew what they were doing and were not afraid to speak up.

A lady (in another group) that we depended on heavily was let go yesterday. The only way to explain this is to take a look at the drain as we circle it.

Used to be a CE with HV 2015 - 2020. During that time I seen many executive titles get created, a remote team that took care of firmware upgrades get gutted in one town hall and a careless higher management team get let go after my time. Seems to be a cycle with HV.

I heard about these layoffs from the Datacenter world and what’s funny it’s Netapp ex-executives doing these changes. If it didn’t work with NetApp then what makes you think it will work with HV.

Everything that is field services will be in the hands of D1 or Unisys. The quality of support will be trash since these third party techs are paid next to none and the turnover rate is pretty bad.

Oh well. Rip Hitachi.

Guys, don't worry though, because Sheila and Octavian will still get to keep their executive bonuses while all of ours get violently neutered. They'll be just fine!

@OP HV isn't selling much hardware anymore and It appears they are letting the legacy storage business die on the vine. Who cares about customer satisfaction ratings if you don't intend to sell in that market anymore ..
