Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Why am I not on the 8 hour list?

I keep seeing/hearing people say they are on some list for not being in the office 8 hours. If I was on this list would I know? I never do 8 hours, not even 2. As far as I'm aware I'm not on this list, why?

My only reasonable theories as to why some people aren’t being busted:

  1. The reporting is not mature enough to catch some of us.
  2. For the worst they are skipping any and all warnings. We’ll get the grand prize.
  3. Those busted this first time were on BOTH naughty lists.

Based on my chatting with the 5 busted I know of, they all admitted to low IN OFFICE hours AND low PRODUCTIVITY so #3 is my leading guess. My productivity is high but low in office. Assuming they went after the lowest hanging fruit first.

My advice, if you don’t want to be fired or lose severance when you’re laid off is to comply. It su-ks. They are coming for everyone. Either through location strategy or efficiency strategy. If you’re bucking the system, they will know. They will use it. Either buckle or find a new gig. WF is no longer a place to build a career.

@ab I definitely wouldn’t say that. Your manager gets told who is out. They have zero influence sadly. They are notified of who is to be laid off. Zero input is allowed.

I have been told that badging at non wells owned sites have unreliable info for them to track, bare min they capture an in or an out.
I see many people walking in at Noon and I highly doubt they are staying until 8pm…

It means your immediate manager is standing their ground in this BS.

From a small team with niche skills that is hard to replace....my group down 37% (4 out of 11 quit or retired) and they have had recs open in 5 cities and reposted 3x in 2025 and have yet to find someone that has any experience or skill set to do it....literally if someone would be let go they would need to fully outsource to India (if even possible) where clients would leave in droves as no way super rich will communicate with them....certain employees have power and no way managers in department like this would give an employee a reason to exit...maybe thats why...

@aj they do. And they plan to use it as justification for merit increases and bonus eligibility. If you aren’t at 4 hours average in office beware. It will also be leveraged for year end ratings. The bell curve of ratings is still alive and thriving.

@af
I do not believe they have a way of filtering IPs by office location. They just look for IP activity and this can be from anywhere.
The badge of course is tied to the office but once you badge in, you can WFH but have to ensure at least 8 hours of digital activity

People or teams monitored are likely to layoff soon. Especially in Risk

Because certain managers are electing not to enforce this nonsense as long as their teams are performing. That’s not speculation; that’s fact.

If you’re truly coming in less than 8 hours and your manager hasn’t said anything, consider yourself lucky to work for one of the remaining managers with a spine.

Because you go home and WFH for 8 hours or more?
So your digital activity is 8 hours

The firm doesn't care about clients so encourage them to leave off the record. I would declare war on Wells Fargo and encourage clients to handle their own accounts. Do it legally.

@OP you will be on a list eventually and yes it is being tracked. I Was going in 3 days a week and told by management I was complying all year. I’ve seen the base reports which indicated my average of days and also a confirmation of connectivity. I was told all year that I was good until the other day I was told that I wasn’t in office long enough. It depends on how your upper level executives want to handle it. Apparently our 4 tiers below Charlie was spot checking randomly. Maybe requested their own customized list. It’s not something the lower level managers see. Including that guy that drives around with “MNGR” on his license plate….
