My manager favors some employees while constantly giving others a nightmare workload. It's literally become unbearable. I’ve caught myself hoping for a layoff just to escape the daily toxicity more than once - and I can't afford to be laid off right now!

@OP this is nothing new. When I worked at Miniscribe in the 80's, I'm convinced I lost about 7 years of my life force even though I was there2.5 years.
Work smart not hard..Use AI to get things done faster and more efficiently...LOL..
Yes. Look at how much time you get off vs. your co-workers and manager as well as your workload probably doing the job that 2 are. The Seagates arbitrary vacation is policy further is set up to facilitate unfair treatments and secure the good life for some at the expense of others, usually older employees but not always. They are living the good life off of you for a time. Let me take a guess that you are one of the older pople in the group and you are probably also given the short stick at focal time vs. other younger employees in the club. What you are experiencing is likely age discrimination and is very common at Seagate and embedded here. Welcome to the club. If things ever turn down for Seagate you can guess who will get cut first as well.
Just wait to until you get the next manager. you might be the future favorite for the new manager
Yes. You are a key part of supporting the lazy lifestyles and excessive vacations of the chosen. Especially if you are older and are a proven workhorse. Good news is they wont want to lay you off so they can continue the good life for themselves. You need to resist some. Once the work load lightens enough they will discard you at another aged based layoff in the future. Please understand that you have to look out for yourself here. Nobody else cares.
