Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Houston acquiring Space in Cypress TX?

I heard a rumor that Chevron is going to secure office space in Cypress. Has anyone else heard that? I’d like to know if that’s true before I relocate.

@a6 I already accepted a job and I’m scheduled to move to Houston early next year.

Chevron bought 77 acres on Bridgeland Lake Road in Cypress about two years ago to build a new lab facility. They have cleared the land and put a fence up, but all work stopped last summer when they started setting up this reorganization. No word on whether they will continue the construction or sell the land like they did with the Katy land 10 years ago.

Chevron is not going to move to Cypress. Chevron is going to fix up their Houston buildings to consolidate the latest reorganization. After they have set up their operations overseas they will have another reorganization to lay off the workers who remain in Houston. They will keep only those who need to be in Houston and sell or lease the rest of the space they own. You need to pay attention and not get complacent. If you don’t want to move you need to start looking now.
