Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

A Sad State of Affairs

So... imagine a team that's been cut, cut, cut. In half. Down to the bone. There's a hiring freeze. Alas, the manager has an employee who's a poor performer but can't do anything because a) the person can't be replaced (hiring freeze) and b) a layoff is coming and there needs to be a lamb to go.

Meanwhile, those who remain must work even harder to accomplish their tasks. Otherwise, those in charge crack the whip and say, "Why can't you deliver 'on time' to the arbitrary delivery date we dreamed up?"

What's really messed up is the leadership that thinks this makes any sort of sense. Ultimately, at the rate this company is going, the train will run off the cliff and crash at the bottom of the canyon because the only ones that remain either don't care or don't know how to put on the brakes.

in all honesty, I used to get more done working from home. I was even willing to put in extra hours or stay late to finish tasks. Remote work actually involved a lot of communication through MS Teams. Now that we’re back in the office, everyone just focuses on their own work, there’s barely any interaction, and once the eight hours are up I’m out so much for efficiency or engagement

AT&T market cap 2019 $285b

Company’s run by buffoons. The dividend is pitiful. Shake off dead weight and stop stagnating, regressing .

How bad things really be? You still have plenty of time to browse and post on a public complaint site.

I stopped trying to keep things going. I just let it fail now. So many people here propping up the company from poor leadership decisions. Often times these L2’s make miracles happen. I just stopped. I tell them to let it fail, it’s the only way it will get fixed. The “leadership” needs to feel the impacts of their bad decisions. If that makes me a bad employee, so be it, but I’m not the one not listening to the people doing the work and making the bad calls. Seems bad calls are what gets you promoted.
