Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

I’m safe…am I?

Is it just me or are you starting to envy those who are leaving? I’m supposed to be relieved that I still have a job but…I’m not. Something is really wrong with the way they did this last layoff. A lot of old timers got the axe. This pension I’m hanging around for won’t be there, will it? It’s so clear to me now that I’m standing on quicksand.

@OP same. I like other people are actively looking for employment elsewhere. Grateful I still have a paycheck to collect , but I no longer feel welcomed at this workplace. I believe the culture will only get worse and worse . Everyone is now on high alert knowing that the chopping will keep happening. People will throw each other under the bus more than ever

@bh Ha! Get used to being treated that way. We were told to stop asking about wfh- and they weren’t going to answer the question any more.
Offshore May think they’re safe but watch our competitors and how they’re cutting offshore heads too. I’m already seeing offshore locations replace each other. No one is “safe”.

Lots and lots and lots of brown nosing friends promoted and retained, while hard working sincere people demoted in positions with same pay. It’s just a position they say - then why promote useless people who only network and are cool to talk but can’t do an excel sheet. HELLO SCM!!!!!!!!!! Haha. The new work culture talk is a big joke (check the placements Mike Wirth! Zero credibility 100% buddy system)

This process was completely and totally demoralizing. It took the spirit of so many good people and that spirit will not be restored any time soon. Sad.

The Subsurface meeting yesterday regarding assigned seating had them ignore every concern and just default to “you’ll get used to it”. Full on treating the employees like cattle. Guarantee there will not be a CES this fall because the scores would be impossible to explain away.

People that made it to get their full pensions plus a bonus payout are leaving in droves smiling and dancing out the door. The large amounts of 50 plus who now face severely discounted pensions as well we a bad job market were cut off at their knees so the pensions they worked hard for can be heaped on the pile of spoils for the ELT and shareholders. Getting rid of people on the pre 2008 pension saves the company tons of money
