Anything Indian project engineers or PDE’s have done has needed SERIOUS rework by site based folks almost equivalent to redoing the task. Indian employees are very sub par not just compared to Canada/US but even other Asian countries. Why Exxon decided India is beyond me. No critical thinking or problem solving skills whatsoever. Just give them clear step by step directions and maybe the task gets done correctly the first time… maybe.

This isn’t a rant against Indian origin folks. There are plenty of very talented Canadian employees of Indian heritage. But for some reason (don’t ask me what) being raised and educated and experienced in Canada makes a huge difference in the quality of work. For the 4000 remaining employees it’s gonna be an extremely stressful and frustrating ride.

@ak That’s what they’ll get for choosing cheap labor over local employees with the skills and knowledge to perform the job well

@ad QP has no more than like 1100-1200 employees plus maybe 100-200 contractors.

Awesome. 900 jobs offshored to folks who can barely speak English. Good times ahead trying to get stuff accomplished.

Real winning.

20% is COMPLETELEY misleading. That number includes if you keep the wage/field staff in the equation - and they aren’t being touched.

It’s 50% of above field staff - from ~1750 to ~850.
That includes shipping jobs to Houston and offshoring in India and KL.

Betrayal at Home Imperial Oil Offshores Canadian Jobs After Exploiting Resources

@a4 guess is that 2 outta 3 Calgary jobs are gone. The 20% applies to the whole company number across Canada, whereas most of the affected jobs are at Quarry Park campus.

more jobs getting migrated to EM subsidiaries in BA, BK, IND, Malaysia - to a bunch of people who don’t know how to properly do the job… good luck on that!

20% is a bit misleading. Its more like 50% of above field MPT staff. Wage won’t be impacted
