LSEG AI press releases - any substance?

LSEG has put out a handful of press releases in recent weeks (Databricks, Reuters). Is there genuine substance to what’s being announced, or is the firm simply attempting a bit of damage limitation after the rather underwhelming outcomes of the Microsoft partnership?

Everything demo’d or announced is either fake (announced before it’s built) or an over embellishment. Model As as Sercice? Actually released and announced years ago. Open Directory ADM? Something clients can do for free without a Workspace. Copilot and AI demos? All vaporware or just an upgrade to search.

Everything is done to try to confuse investors and analysts to pump the stock back to the 120s

Super Substance!

Super Summaries
We are talking existing Gen AI use cases, nothing novel. And it’s Reuters news, mind you not Bloomberg financial news. So good, in fact, we have gone and whacked a “super” on it. If it’s brilliant, best to call it Lseg summaries and carry on.

Databricks
Well done, first out the gate to make financial data available on Databricks Agent Bricks. One imagines the rest won’t be far behind with their own announcements.

Meeting Prep / Excel Add-In
Another cracking use case for investment banking. OpenAI’s teamed up with ex-investment bankers to take the grunt work off analysts’ plates. Meeting Prep with summaries and excel done by analysts? Sounds absolutely lovely.

It’s all a farce — people are encouraged to make things up, and when they’re exposed, the whole cycle just repeats itself. That’s how it always goes in D&A.

LSEG is the focus of all jokes right now, it’s such a public disaster on non-delivery and constant fake PRs and fake product announcements.

Following the company is like watching a sitcom.

There is a Workspace 10x initiative that's supposed to leverage AI and there's people working on it. But its capabilities are not clearly outlined and only a handful of people have access to it internally at the moment.

Besides that, there are some internal LLMs tools that employees can use but they're very very basic, to say the least.

Just smoke and mirrors PRs to make it seem like something is being worked on at LSEG to convince customers to buy half-baked products (Spoiler Alert: nothing positive actually happening).
