Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

No Confidence Vote

Wanted to bring up something that has been bothering me for quite some time, and I believe it's important for us to have some meaningful discussion about it with those charged with the responsibility. Have you noticed that none of the senior leadership team ever formally addresses any of the serious concerns raised on this forum, Peakon surveys, or other feedback channels? Significant, non-trivial concerns such as offshoring plans, aggressive US layoff plans, loss of experienced workers, hiring freezes, shifting workload concerns, RTO policies, office closure plans, growth hubs vs. non-growth hubs, separations vs. severance plans and decisions, work-from-home status, and quality of life concerns are all left unanswered.

All the management rhetoric we've been programmed to embody in our core pillars and principles now feels empty and hollow. It feels quite odd and frankly, very disheartening, that these significant issues are continuously brought up by employees either directly or through forums like this but never receive any formal acknowledgment or response from senior leadership. Why is that? How is it ever acceptable to continue to ignore these employee concerns? Where does SH and the People Team stand?

It stands to reason that it is crucial for this leadership team to be transparent and responsive to the concerns of their employees. Addressing these issues head-on would not only provide clarity but also help in building trust and improving the overall morale within the organization. Given the widespread fear, uncertainty, and doubt that continues to spread, is there any reason we should be confident in our future success or direction with this firm? If we can't answer this question with absolute certainty and conviction, then clearly a restart is the only option.

@OP Agree with you. The EC team and HR are complicit and all in on the highly questionable and unethical behavior in personnell matters. The level of arrogance and disregard on display is completely off the charts. There are so many posts on this site pointing out facts and completely accurate observations.

I second the proposal to boycott attending BK Live meetings. (Think of the message it will send when no one attends! - WE ARE ALL NOT BEHIND YOU!)

@aj you mean the last ones who held office and destroyed everything. We are all feeling those poor decisions and this administration needs to put a stop to people like RV and his offshoring and AI garbage

In the current job market, even for the talented and trained with all the AI gizmos, finding a job within the Metro area is very difficult. I am not kidding, have been looking for nearly six months and no hits. Very few calls and the salary is not even comparable.

The post covid hiring frenzy has reversed. People are "hugging" their jobs.

We all have bills to pay, mortgage to address and everything is getting expensive. Our salary is not keeping up with inflation (raise is lower than that and all the taxes, including utility rates,, auto insurance and now fearing the health-care premiums have significantly gone up. The WH may claim BBB but it is the same tax we had before - only consolation is it is not going up)

So why would risk losing the job. That fear and uncertainty (call it insecurity too) is obviously emboldening HR and the C-tyrants. They know that.

With family, mortgage one cannot pick up and move. Add to that most of us have mortgages at ridiculously low rates - why move and risk doubling the interest payments - that ties us down also.

We are all holding our breath that this storm passes - it will. And to the stress the current Government is adding more uncertainty and amplifies the fear.

Because, this is a culture of fear.
Many managers and lower level senior leaders are afraid to raise these concerns for fear of losing their jobs and the impact to their life styles. Not all of them are ‘connected’ and can easily find greener pastures. Is this an excuse?
No. It is an explanation. Is it right? No. It is the way it is. We truly have a psychologically damaging environment here. Humans need confidence, assurance and a feeling of safety.
You get none of that here. It is a dysfunctional workplace. How to fix? You can’t unless someone comes forward with illegality and proof of actual financial crimes committed, then this regime stays. So, that only means one thing: leave and escape. And all of us have families and or commitments. This is not some summer job that a 17 year old can just stop showing up for. You can also be sure that the board and HR do not care. In fact, they are ‘in on it’. It is sad too that people think regulators, attorneys, watchdog groups and shouting discrimination is going to help. This place has a legal team that is air tight, big and near flawless. If only our leadership and products were the same.
We are all kids who failed at Wi--y wonka’s factory and the Indian Oompa loompa’s are taking us out and taking our golden tickets.
You squeel or complain and out you go.
This is a culture of fear.

@OP agree and these are all serious topics affecting many of us. Sr leaders are focused solely on what benefits their pockets not ours. And until someone outside this company sheds light or stops in we will never see change and it wont stop
