The Halting International Relocation of Employment (HIRE) Act was introduced in the Senate on September 5, 2025, by Senator Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio). The bill seeks to tackle the offshoring of U.S. jobs by creating significant financial disincentives for companies that hire foreign workers for services ultimately benefiting U.S. consumers.

I miss the days when Centene was adverse to sending any business offshore.
It really depends. The state contract has to specifically state that the work has to be by professionals in the US. If the contract doesn’t specifically state that, any plan can be outsourced out to another country.
Legislation has loopholes built in as a feature. Results in everyone looking one way, while they sc--w us another way.
Short answer, no.
I’m sure they’ll find a way around it so it doesn’t impact them, they are good at finding loopholes….technically Centene isn’t hiring foreign workers, they are contracting with companies that do…so if the company is based in or has a location in the US then the HIRE Act doesn’t apply…and it may not apply regardless…there are also all sorts of ways to structure financials related to contracts with these companies that would get around it too…
