Oracle gets you doing the work of four, (to keep your manager looking good) and boxes you in

Use AI for low value, repetitive work to free yourself up for higher value activities

"@h9 well, the trick is to make sure you have skills that are marketable at any point in time,"

Oracle gets you doing the work of four, (to keep your manager looking good) and boxes you in. You have no opportunity to pick up new skills. Those new roles always go to the new kids, or external hires.

@h9 well, the trick is to make sure you have skills that are marketable at any point in time, right? Anyone who does that doesn't have to worry.

Many seem to think they are entitled to be safe and comfortable in their role since they trained in a particlcular area, or whatever, but that kind of thinking is anacronistic now. (Ref the Oracle Doormat Principle)

Start with a$$ kissing and back stabbing.

It's not so nice skill only works sometimes in short run BUT AI does it better, try it out !!!!

Getting out of TECH is best due to uncertainty. No one knows how it will pan out, its just a guessing/betting game for now and all companies want is win this race.

If you can't due to your circumstance, Cyber Security would be next in demand due to AI SLOP

In Dev it would be fixing AI SLOP generated code and Apps. Testing is already gone to poor countries.

Getting expert in some functional domain may help with some jobs.

white-hat hacking

AI generated slop with no human QA or support will open vulnerability floodgates. You already live in cyberpunk dystopia, so blend in.

Follow the example of Feng Yuan, after 22 years of service at Microsoft he was laid off due to "low performance" and decided to become a goose farmer. He is a legend.

Get out of tech entirely. Make sure your kids don't go into tech either.
