Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

I have a mini heart attack every two weeks

Not literally, but it sure feels like it. I can’t sleep the night before, my blood pressure is through the roof all day, and the stress makes productive work impossible. I know I’m not the only one who’s less than productive on these days. Instead of dragging it out and losing productivity constantly, why not have one major round every six months and let us work normally the rest of the time?

Volunteering is a sure way not to get termed. They know you are looking for the exits, and would rather torment you to push you over that edge than pay you to leave.

@OP Or raise you hand and volunteer for a package and put this anxiety to rest. Oh wait you want the paycheck… got it.

Wells is just a job, yes, we all need to work to care for our families and make money to live the lives we want - but it's just a job. We are numbers on a spreadsheet, that is all. What you are describing is very un-healthy. I would recommend taking time to reflect on what is actually important in life - Wells is not the only employer out there. Maybe reflect on the work you like to do and start your journey to find the next chapter. If you believe in God, read your bible and pray. Cherish time with your family and friends, talk to them about wanting to move on to the next chapter and ask for their support. They will more than likely have some great advice and share your excitement. If you are that miserable and anxious, it is being felt by your family and friends too. Your whole circle will thank you for taking charge and moving on. I was displaced a few months ago, I was scared and uncertain about my future. Now I am getting ready to start a job doing something in a different industry, something I had never really thought about before. I find myself wishing I would have just jumped ship several years ago instead of hanging on and wondering if I would be in the next round. The senior leaders have changed the culture so much, the number of people enjoying their work at Wells I believe is much smaller than the people that are unhappy. It hasn't been the place to be proud to work at for a long time. Life is short, make sure you own it for yourself and not let a toxic culture affect your health and family/friend relationships. Good luck.

We can't control whether we are laid off via displacement, but there are things we can control, like our reactions. Deep breaths while thinking, "This too shall pass," helps me. Usually it is the financial loss that most people dread. Save as much as you possibly can and also run through the mental exercise of what you will do if you are displaced.

I remember when I first heard about “Termination Tuesday(s)”. It rattled me so deeply that I lived in constant fear and distress. And then the Tuesday came when I was laid off.
A dear friend taught me “A rejection is God’s Protection”. She was so right! I had a few months’ severance and immediately began my job hunt. Is it a tough job market? Yes. Which means you have to work all the harder and SMARTER at finding a job. Minimum of 5 applications daily - ChatGPT is your friend. Each resume must align with the job you are applying for. ChatGPT composes beautiful cover letters. Take the time to learn how to query ChatGPT - there are tons of posts out there.
I applied for and made it to numerous interview panels with Wells. And you can apply for hundreds of roles at Wells. But be sure to apply with other companies as well.
Ultimately, less than three months later, I landed a role at a company I have wanted to work at for YEARS. I am so grateful for all I learned at Wells because that knowledge is something no one can take from me. And it is very useful!
Begin the process now and it will help to ease your mind. Have Faith.

I don’t do anything on these Tuesdays until after lunch. Why bother doing anything until I know I’m not getting laid off that day?
