Not a good look. Its getting a lot of bad mentions on social media. This is probably why they wanted employees to be social media "advocates". (Cue eye roll.)
You want regulators and Congress after you, DC? This is the way.

@2e0 then enlighten everyone with your wisdom
Most commenting here don't actually understand what's going on..
Yeah, think everyone knows that all insurance companies are greedy blood su-king parasites
Other payers are doing this too. So it’s not just a Cigna thing
What an embarrassment. And this is most of our healthcare coverage as employees as well, I have personally already had my Dr mention and will be losing coverage- can’t believe this is even legal…
or letting the Feds have a 10% stake in your business for any investigation to go away.
lol, that is not the way I expected single payer to happen.
@e3 Truth!!
Regulators in DC? Hahahaha. At least 1/3 of them have been DOGEd, so any investigation is going to be slowed down. HHS has been gutted. The FBI investigated Medicare fraud but they are too busy assisting ICE with arresting workers or they are patrolling the streets of DC. Plus all it takes is a proper investment in $Trump coin or letting the Feds have a 10% stake in your business for any investigation to go away. It’s a great time to be a crooked corporation.
This is nothing new. Payors downgrade Inpatient Drgs all the time for lack of or inconsistent medicals and or codes not deriving to the correct diagnosis.
Providers have the option to appeal with additional record submission and or peer review.
If you lool at the initial announcement it states "billing and coding accuracy in alignment with American Medical Association (AMA) E/M services guidelines."

Who is tired of big bills from your pcp for a 2 minute visit for a runny nose or other minor maladay.
Time for the physicians to stay current on their record keeping.
I guess it is time to switch to my husband's even though it is typically more money. Who thought this would be a good idea?
From Google:

Basically more work for doctors who will now have to submit appeals if they want to get paid. Its all over TikTok.
What is this? What are the bad mentions?
