I swear, more and more hours are being eaten up by endless check-ins with no real purpose. Work slows down while we have to listen to pointless updates and calls. Everyone is rightfully frustrated over this - outside of those who have nothing else to do as it is. Letting the rest of us focus without constant interruptions would make a huge difference.

Can we just add to this all of the constant training classes. Between them and meetings when do they expect actual work to get done
I can't get any actual work done cause we are attending meetings to prepare for the next meeting that will invariably get cancelled because we are not ready, and two more invitations grow in it's place once an open hour appears on my calendar. Good thing I have another 16 hours out of the office to do the work I'm supposed to be doing the 8 hours that I'm in the office. /s
Accept every meeting double triple book all day. Perfect for not attending any due to conflicting meetings
I had a decent career w/ no middle manager.. autonomy. Then.. I got a middle manager. Now he asks first thing every day 'How's everyone?' Gets zero response from the entire team (he's made us miserable on top of company making us miserable). Then we proceed to talk about NYC complaints for 20-40min.. trains, buses, crime, prices, dirt & grime.. I have never felt so much of my time in life wasted on nonsense. Wish I could just do my job and that be it.
A meeting for the meeting for the meeting. None of this is sustainable.
Don’t attend
One word to describe BNY Mellon "Leadership": INCOMPETENT!
Thats because they have too many people getting paid that have no actual work to do so this is their time fillers. The rest of us get to be interrupted for stupidity in the meantime
Thanks for raising this. To best discuss your frustrations I have scheduled a series of bi weekly meetings for the next six months so we can address this and find a solution. I have of course invited several hundred people to each call who have nothing to do with this and will be of no assistance. Yours faithfully your Dear Leader & Comrade.
There is an entire class of BNY employee only exisiting and showing value by filling the calendars of the few competent people left. They are in every group, some of you may even be reading this.
There are far too many people at BNY whose job is to sit in meetings all day talking about work rather than doing any actual work.
