No, you give your manager free stays at your second home in the mountains and at the coast. Or other favors that keep the manager from having to spend their own money. :)
one day it will become clear that people considered friends or favorites are 100% not safe.
I really hope this was posted in sarcasm, because managers and directors are RIF'd very frequently - it's pretty well known that if you can't get from either of those positions to a staff VP that you are absolutely going to be RIF'd sooner or later - it's not a matter of IF it's a matter of when.
