Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

VRP replacement

I applied for a job that they are filling due to 3 people taking VRP. Is this a good move? I thought they wanted to cut the workforce, not replace them.

@fy I work for PBM Ops, it is a sh-t show or as we say the dumping grounds. We have too many chefs with no direction, managers who have no idea how to perform day to day functions of their team. We had layoffs this year, but it affected Levels 2 & 3 only. Plus HIH is quickly taking over to poor results, that will be a disaster when it fails in 1-2 years. I worked for a company that did the 'India Experience"...laid off 30 US employees, hired 30 India employees to replace us. 12 months later, the company closed the India site, citing lack of performance, language barriers among other reasons.

I believe the very general guideline for hiring for positions that are vacated due to VRP is that for every 2 vacancies, 1 of them can be filled. I don’t know how they would determine whether or not a position can be filled if 1 person leaves. Similarly, I don’t know how many positions would be backfilled if 3 people on a team leave. Can only 1 person be hired to replace 3 positions or can 2 people be hired? Will be interesting to see what the next few months looks like.

They will replace some of the workforce and pay them less than people with more experience. If 3 people are leaving that team, I would ask why. It’s not enjoyable or tolerable when the team or leaders su-k. Good luck!

@OP - seems quick to hire for VRP replacements when VRP people won’t officially be told their date until early September. The ELT needs to look at the layers of managers on the PBM Ops side. There are some Sr Mgrs who don’t know the first thing about leading people. That side of the house is a sh-tshow!

They will want to pay you less than your worth, they will expect you to do more work, they will eliminate your role once David C deems it nessary to increase shareholder value. Its a job and if you take it, milk it for all the experience you can to find another job.

I would just keep in mind as you apply:

  1. You will be expected to do all three of those jobs
  2. For less
  3. There’s a reason why they left
