GOA petrotechs

How are things for GOA petrotechs right now? What sort of cuts are they communicating and are they centralizing yall to houston like they did in S&T?

Some corrections. Permian does not need REs either. AI does reserves, Completions are maturing and needs only simple playbook followers and closeology is not complicated enough to warrant graduates. It is however totally true that Gorgon and Tengiz don't need petrotechs, exploration are a boutique group that are arrogant but achieve nothing and we are maturing into a well management (ops only) company.

@h9 you lost me when you said Covington took over GOM exploration. That has always been run out of Houston and the petrotechs in that group have been the same for the last 10 years. Covington develops fields once they are discovered and has done a damn good job doing so. Houston has always handled E&A and has stunk it up lately. Get your facts straight lady

Read the handwriting on the wall: Exploration, which is almost exclusively petrotech, has been downsized (staff and budgets) for 10 years now and continues to be whittled down. CTC Ph.D petrotechs couldn't find oil in a Walmart. The DWEP exploration juggernaut was stripped of its budget and oil finders and handed over to the Kovington Keystone Kops. They have discovered nothing in ten years, it doesn't even look like they're trying. High-pots have bungled Mexico and Brazil exploration, picking up lousy acreage and then not drilling. Permian needs no G&G petrotechs, just REs. Tengiz and Gorgon employ only a token petrotech or two. Chevron is rapidly becoming a production company of legacy reserves and M&A oil, petrotechs not needed.

Since when does CVX actually provide transparency of cuts? Does OP even work here?

Petrotechs are a mature skill that is being outsourced to cheaper alternatives. Don't need Rolls Royce employees in a factory. Read the tea leaves Petheads. The companies view of your value has been declining faster than a Permian well

It continues to be ironic to me that Goa is a state in western India, which seems fitting.
