Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Exemptions

Word is vaccine exemptions are coming back denied, mine did. Scare tactics to get the jab? Or will we actually get fired 3/1? Seems like a fluid situation with any mandate. Time to drink another flavor of Kool Aid I think.

Burn them on this mandate.
A lousy copier company is not gonna tell me what to do, when it comes to my personal health.
I’m gone in 2 weeks. Asta!!!!

Lawsuit is all they understand. Hit them where it hurts. No one should put up with xerox’s shenanigans.
Get as far away from this train wreck as you possibly can. Make that your New Years resolution. Maybe before that works too. No more benefit of the doubt.

General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler announced Wednesday they will withhold Vaccine mandates for thousands of employees, but will require on-site masking after negotiations with the UAW, according to a jo--t statement.

The declaration also encourages unionized workers to report their vaccination status at their own discretion but does not require it. “The Task Force continues to urge all members, coworkers, and their families to get vaccinated and get booster vaccinations against COVID, while understanding that there are personal reasons that may prevent some members from being vaccinated, such as health issues or religious beliefs,” the statement read.

The Huntington Ingalls executive team cares about what their employees think.

The Xerox executive team have no backbone and will continue to try and get favor with the current administration by blindly following the federal mandate, even though - as with H Ingalls - it doesn't apply to the vast majority of Xerox employees.

They also want the added benefit of reducing headcount by the firings and resignations it will cause.

Newport News shipbuilder Huntington Ingalls reverses their position on the vaccine mandate and claims they misinterpreted the federal requirement. After further consultations with the federal government, the shipbuilder now says the vaccine mandate doesn’t apply. “This recent information is different from what we understood to be the government’s and the Navy’s intent,” the company said.

Huntington Ingalls previously said all of its 25,000 workers would need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a “condition of continued employment” due to the vaccine mandate for federal workers and contractors. [Media Link] However, Newport News Shipbuilding President Jennifer Boykin said in a Facebook update Thursday that Huntington Ingalls clarified their Navy contracts “don’t include a vaccine mandate at this time.”

[Via Facebook] President and CEO Mike Petters issued a message to employees Nov. 16 indicating that the government’s Jan. 4, 2022, deadline for vaccination is suspended. The message also clarified that after considerable work with the Navy to meet the intent of the mandate, our Navy contracts with Newport News Shipbuilding do not include a vaccine mandate requirement at this time.

This recent information is different from what we understood to be the government’s and the Navy’s intent. As a result of what we know today, some of the related mandate policies and processes will now change. Because employee safety continues to be our top priority, other COVID-related policies will not change.
Here’s what is changing:
• COVID-19 vaccination is not required as a condition of employment for current or leased employees.
• Employees who applied for a religious or medical exemption will be contacted in writing with additional clarification.
• Shipbuilders who opted to submit for retirement or to resign as a result of the federal mandate have the option to request reversal of their decision.
– For those who have started the retirement process, please contact the HII Benefits Center for more information.
– For employees who notified management or Human Resources of plans to resign, please talk with your immediate supervisor if your plans change. Supervisors should contact their Human Resources business partner for guidance.
• Offsite employees will be required to follow the guidance provided by the work location.
• Subcontractors do not need to be fully vaccinated.

We absolutely need a class action lawsuit. There is NO reason that employees who work remote, or never go on site for a federal contract should be forced to get the shot if they don't wish to. The OSHA 100+ mandate has been ruled an overreach by TWO different appeals courts, and the federal mandate needs to be struck down as well.

States and countries that are highly vaccinated are starting to have major increases in the infection rates, so do you think this will all stop with 1 round of shots being mandated? Of course not. Govt is already talking about mandating a 3rd shot booster, and when that doesn't work it will be "1 shot every 6 months" mandated for everyone.

And this is NOT an "anti vax" post. I got the shot, and encouraged friends and family to do the same.

But allowing the government to mandate taking medicine for a virus that 99% only seriously affects people who are too old to work (70+ years old) is a dangerous path.

What next? "We have an epidemic of obesity (which actually ki--s 10x the amount of people Covid has) so sugary drinks and desserts are now banned for everyone, even those who are in perfect health.

I had mine approved in June. In October they said I had to reapply, which they then rejected it. Same convictions. I do not need an accommodation I work permanently remote. My last day is march 1st. Anyone want to get together for a lawsuit?

The truth is, EVERYONE technically is eligible for a religious exemption. Freedom of religion in the constitution. It just has to be a sincerely held belief and the company can't do anything about it. The only issue comes when they try to come up with an "accommodation" for you.

Post ID: @6xdj+1dSpPdzL

Now the real questions are , why wouldn't they just approve the 500 and be done with it ? How can you prove someones religious belief isn't real? What accounts are the 500 or so on? In addition how many others just didn't do anything yet? What happens to morale for the people who aren't getting the vaxx? Is Xerox going to actually go through the steps of writing them up and such? What does this do to SLAs? Are there other competitors who aren't federal contractors (and aren't mandating the shot) who could take the business away?

An outsider would think 500 can be replaced easily, but just go back to April of 2019 and the HCL fiasco. Some of those people were brought back because the job wasn't learnable or easily replaceable. There may be issues for all, even those who are vaxx'd

Then look to India and Guatemala and a few other islands, Xerox has a hard time getting those guys to stick around once they get good at their position.

This mandate sadly may be the last straw for the company to be honest.

I'm guessing Gibralter was brought up as an example because they just released the data so it's current AND relevant, regardless if they have 2M or 200M citizens. Austria just announced a shut-down, Germany and others are considering the same.

I'm not anti-shot. If someone wants it they should be able to get it. But now the government is saying "oh, just another booster needed" even though it doesn't prevent you from catching or passing the virus.

Go back to your mom’s basement, put on your mask, get a few more vaccinations, and quit telling peeps to leave XRX. If they don’t know what to do at this point, there is no helping them anyway. XRX is different things for different people. Always has been and it is still very appropriate for some.

I and many others have had our fill and paid are dues. Just remember SH_T rolls down hill. Unless you own the company…your not exempt.

How do you call retired at 60 from xerox unsuccessful? Once again wrong.
I saved my money and did side jobs to get where I am at. I simply came on to help others. Not gloating but not ashamed either. I just want people to realize you might not have 1-2 years to get where you want to go. That’s what I was trying to say.

The people saying you must leave XRX do not understand the big picture. There are many employees that only want to work a few more years. There are many earning 5, 10, 20 x what you are. One of their years can equal 20 of yours. There are people that do not have to work but really enjoy their jobs (me). If you are miserable, just leave, without trying to accelerate the obvious decline of XRX. It’s petty and shows why you were unsuccessful in the first place.

To the people that are damned and determined to stay at xerox.

I hope you get Everything you deserve. Dozens of people have been on this site trying to warn you of what this company is becoming.
But all you can find time for is laughing at the utter nonsense of it all.
Well that’s your choice. Have fun, because you will have fun, lots of it.

What in the world does it take to get a genuine fact across to you people. Someone that worked there and still knows people that work there that are trying to bail out on this disaster in progress company.
I know many people that are really concerned and loosing sleep over this.

But alas it’s so much easier to label me as a no nothing or a competitor trying to get people to leave. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Good luck people as honestly your gonna need it.
I await the stupid and snide comments coming my way. It proves my point. These people don’t care. And they never did. Wonder why xerox is failing?
Must be solar flares or climate change. Huh?
It couldn’t be them .. they have never been accountable in their lives for anything. So why start now?
I can know that I really tried to let people know the direction of the company. It’s up to you now. The company is lost. Save yourself and others bid you can. If you do that maybe you’ll understand how I feel.

Enough said. You are on your own. As they say in Vegas. “ Good Luck Everybody”. Just remember that the odds are always in favor of the house.

It’s what you do. Hurl insults and call people liars. Why don’t you just scream fire in a crowed theatre ?
Anyone with an iq above room temperature would know you are here for your own selfish reasons and nothing else. Karma is a funny thing.

Haha, keep shaking your fist at the sky little tech guy. First of all, i GUARANTEE you're not in my area so nope, your personal decision won't affect MY paycheck by any means. Whether you get the vax or not, you're still going to sit there and complain about your job and Xerox, so why do it? Go apply somewhere else. I'm sure your skillsets will translate perfectly to another place right?

Let’s make 2022 a xerox service free year. Flip the switch. Watch the fireworks. It will be a wonderful show.

Here’s the part I don’t understand: For all the CURRENT Xerox employees who just constantly complain on here with the “whoa is me” attitude, this is the PERFECT time to leave. Why still stay just to whine like little girls for another new year? Once you have your fake exemption denied, just leave. No sense in dragging it out into 2022. Let your conspiracy theories play out…but in a different company. Problem solved.

Michelle Con claims that HIPAA does not apply to Xerox because they are not a healthcare entity, yet they trot out all these medical definitions, stats and justifications for the efficacy of this vaccine. For a bunch of misfits that can't even deliver toner or bill correctly, they sure do sound like they're striving to be a medical entity. What a joke!
