Thread regarding Cenovus Energy layoffs

Is this kind of reputation based on truth?

I’ve had a few interviews. Things are turning around with the job market. ...................
Funny thing is in the job interviews so far working for Cenovus has been seen in an almost negative light. Had a few questions about the bureaucracy and if I can work independently without constant supervision kind of thing. Seems like the reputation is out there about staff being minions and only doing what they are told to do without independence. Too bad, makes getting another job a bit harder.

post @1aev+1apKlqcz True story! In one of the interviews I had they asked me a very similar question and later I wondered how independent we at Cenovus really are in our work compared to other companies in the industry???

I’ve had this experience as legacy Husky. I sometimes worry I damaged my reputation by working there. It feels terrible because I did a good job and tried to be a good part of the company. I’m glad to be out and not interested in going back into oil.

True dat. The managers are trying to show they add value so quick collect data and report report report. Forget that it might be stressing out the employees who have to gather it all and format it because most of the managers can’t even run a pivot table.

Just don’t question the need for it or else.

should have proofed my typing before posting first (oops). Ment to write "there is NOT MUCH independence at CVE"

Very honest question,

My experience is that there is much independence at CVE compared to say CNRL (also much less accountability). Too many people at CVE = too many cooks in the kitchen. Micro management is one of the big problems, all managers needing to look like they are contributing, but really they are just getting in the way.
