My favourite thing so far is Alex asking the management how great the culture is when they are the actual problem; leading a do as we say not as we do culture top down. Just sit there shut up and do. They may even ask for feedback but their faces on Teams shows exactly what they thing of being forced to show like they care. We had one meeting where our Director said word for word “okay we are out of time and I’ve committed to ending our meetings on time. Are there any comments on what we’ve talked about? No okay. Thanks everyone. “ and cue end of meeting.

I felt so heard and included I was just gushing afterwards about our inclusive culture to my cat. I don’t even try to talk to my partner anymore about work as it makes them want to p..e. The cat at least pretends to listen if I put treats on my keyboard. Although I feel the cat is also getting tired of my “whining”. Ha.

I’ve had a few interviews. Things are turning around with the job market. Get a job and get a package it’s pretty easy. Just ask a few uncomfortable questions of your leaders and you will get a package. They hate staff who question their judgment so keep doing that for a week or so and you will get a package for sure.

Funny thing is in the job interviews so far working for Cenovus has been seen in an almost negative light. Had a few questions about the bureaucracy and if I can work independently without constant supervision kind of thing. Seems like the reputation is out there about staff being minions and only doing what they are told to do without independence. Too bad, makes getting another job a bit harder.

They didn’t think people were busy before.

Watch as the talent flees..
Afterall, you get what you pay for, even when it comes to staff quality.

Was there ever a question that this was the long game they were playing?
